A collaborative poem

I hold onto the quiet proof 
you're here
even as the world revolves
in the midst of its noise
peace has always sounded like
finding my way back
to the space next to you

easing each other's worries
I hold vulnerability
naked in my hands
you gently kiss each palm
reminding me to breathe

my soul smiles in your presence
lying together 
with our bodies intertwined
I feel exposed

you welcome all my shadows
for where our darkness meets 
there is a promise:
in silence and in storm
every moment together 
is a chance to be free

surrounded by halos of anticipation
armoured with cautious optimism
I embrace the realisation that
dancing through life together
side by side
          hand in hand
                 cheek to cheek
is all we really need

the stars in my eyes
will forever mirror the
constellations in yours
and as you see me
              as you touch me
                    as we whisper
                                      laugh 
                                             cry 
I fall into the gentle truth
that I belong right here
forever next to you
